Regional Opportunities Australia, part of the HOST International group, has been shortlisted for Sunsuper’s Dreams For A Better World People’s Choice Award.

Regional Opportunities Australia (ROA) supports migrants and refugees move from cities to welcoming regional communities and connects them to employment and business opportunities. This creates opportunities for migrants and refugees while enriching regional areas, both economically and culturally.

According to Australian Bureau of Statistics data 2018, almost 86 per cent of migrants settle in greater capital cities, but only 14 per cent move outside those areas. By connecting migrants and refugees currently living in cities with employment opportunities in less densely populated regions, ROA is contributing to easing the economic and infrastructure pressure on big cities while enhancing the economic sustainability of regional areas, which often struggle to maintain populations.

ROA is currently supporting 562 applicants to relocate to regional Australia. To date, 40 applicants have been successfully placed into regional jobs in NSW and Victoria (more than 140 people including spouses and children). ROA wants to increase the number of people it can support into jobs in regional Australia, and expand to regional Queensland and South Australia, where this is great demand for ROA’s work.

Vote for Regional Opportunities Australia HERE to help ROA receive a $10,000 grant to achieve this dream.

“ROA is honoured to be nominated for this grant and greatly appreciates the community’s votes to help us support more migrants and refugees to contribute to the sustainability and growth of regional Australia,” said Mahir Momand, CEO of Regional Opportunities Australia.

Voting closes 18 September.
